Superintendent of Highways John B. Gordon is a lifelong resident of Haverstraw and graduate of North Rockland High School, Class of 1979. After completing an Associate’s degree at the State University of New York at Alfred, Bart joined the Haverstraw Fire Department and currently serves with the General Warren Emergency Company #2. His career included over 35 years of logistics and transportation experience in and around the metropolitan area including many years with LJ Kennedy Trucking Company in Grassy Point. Bart has been married to his wife Lisa for 22 years and resides in the Village of Haverstraw. Bart is a Life Member of the Haverstraw Fire Department and served as Chief of the Department from 2019-2021. He is also a Life Member of the Rockland County Fire Chiefs Association and the Rockland County Volunteer Firefighters Association. He currently serves on the Fire Council of the Haverstraw Fire Department as well as the Village of Haverstraw Planning Board. The Town Highway Department provides the residents of the Town of Haverstraw with safe and well-maintained roads throughout the year. We also maintain the storm water collection system throughout the Town, take care of the signs and lines on our streets and collect yard waste, metals, and bulk refuse on a regular basis. The Highway Department maintenance facility maintains our highway fleet as well as the repair and maintenance of our Police Department vehicles.
